"When OSHA Comes Knocking:    A Practical Guide for HR"

What should you do when a serious workplace injury occurs, an employee raises a safety concern, or OSHA appears at the door?

This session will provide an update on OSHA's current enforcement priorities and regulatory developments, while offering practical guidance for responding to workplace incidents, inspections & employee complaints.

Participant Learning Objectives:

  • Identify HR’s responsibilities before, during, and after OSHA inspections, investigations, and employee safety complaints

  • Recognize and mitigate whistleblower risks arising from workplace safety concerns

  • Implement practical response strategies for inspections, document requests, and employee interviews

  • Analyze recent enforcement trends and regulatory developments affecting employers across industries

       Juliana C. Gaige 
         - Attorney, Jackson Lewis P.C.

      Drawing on her background in workers' compensation and workplace injury matters, Juliana advises and represents employers in a wide range of employment and workplace safety issues.

      Juliana guides employers through discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour litigation, while also representing employers in workplace injury claims involving Texas workers' compensation non-subscriber programs. Her practice includes advising employers during OSHA inspections and investigations, contesting OSHA citations, and defending employers against OSHA whistleblower and retaliation claims.

      Known for her practical and business-focused approach, Juliana helps employers navigate the intersection of workplace safety, employee relations, and legal compliance. A native Houstonian, she brings a deep understanding of the local business community and regularly partners with employers to develop proactive strategies for managing workplace risk
