Program 2: MC-SHRM GENERAL Meeting (Members & Guests)

"FMLA Updates and How You Can Make it Work
  for Your Company!"

Presented By: Haley E. Kurisky, Attorney - Jackson Lewis P.C.

The FMLA is a very useful tool for qualifying employees, and allowing protected leave in various instances.  But employers get nervous about the FMLA, how to apply it, and what to expect from employees returning from FMLA leave.  This presentation assuages employer fears about the FMLA, explaining the usefulness of leave, how and when it applies to employees, and what protections must be given to employees going on or returning from FMLA leave.

Join us for this informative review of the Family and Medical Leave Act

Participant Learning Objectives:

  • Identify who the FMLA protects

  • Discover practical steps for how to draft FMLA-compliant policies

  • Consider examples for FMLA application

Haley E. Kurisky,  is an attorney with Jackson Lewis, an employment law firm with over 1000 attorneys in nearly every state.  Haley works in the Houston office, where she is fortunate to work with clientele of all sizes all around Houston and the greater Texas area. She represents employers in a variety of workplace matters, including litigation, advice and counsel, training, investigations, and so much more.

Haley is originally from Houston, attending Rice University for her undergraduate studies, and the University of Houston Law Center for her J.D.  She is active in the Houston community, serving on the Board of Trustees for Goodwill Houston, as a member of the Junior League of Houston, and as an active committeeman for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.  She has presented multiple topics for MC-SHRM over the years. Thus MC-SHRM appreciates the generosity of her time, expertise and enthusiasm. Each time Haley has been invited to present, she says she is thrilled to present for MC-SHRM again!
