Program 2 - MC-SHRM General Meeting
                     11:45*AM-1:00PM
(*Registration 11:45AM-11:50AM)

Presented by Joseph G. (Chip) Galagaza, & Kelly S. Sullivan
                          - Senior Counsel, Stibbs & Co., P.C.

While far from the most interesting or the most challenging part of a human resource professional’s job, taking the time to review, update, and revise as necessary a company’s handbook, employment policies and procedures, and yes, even the forms it uses, is a critical function of the position.  Judges, juries, and administrative agencies expect it - to them, there is not a reason or an excuse that is acceptable for not having these fundamentals of HR up-to-date.
So, no time like the Spring to get out the broom
!

Participant Learning Objectives:

  • Assess why undertaking a regular handbook, policies and procedures, and employment form review is important
  • Consider creating a checklist of what to review
  • Identify free resources to assist
  • Examine recent employment law developments that deserve attention

Joseph G. (Chip) Galagaza, Senior Counsel is a Board Certified Labor and Employment lawyer with over 40 years representing management in virtually every aspect of the practice area - from providing advice and counsel to being an advocate before administrative agencies and in the courthouse and before appellate courts. Chip has also recently added being a mediator and arbitrator of labor and employment law disputes as a part of his practice.

Kelly S. Sullivan, Senior Counsel has practiced over 20 years with over 15 years of her practice focusing on advising employers and representing them before administrative agencies and in the courts on labor and employment law matters. Kelly has also practiced both as outside counsel with law firms and as an in-house attorney, and her experience as a General Counsel gives her a unique and valuable perspective in assisting her employment law clients.
