"The Law or Nah: Debunking Employment Law Myths"
Program - MC-SHRM General Meeting 9:05*AM-10:15AM (*Registration 9:00AM-9:05AM)
Presented By: Dustin A. Paschal, Attorney - Simon Paschal PLLC
Over time, best practices presented to HR professionals have evolved into "legal requirements" that HR mistakenly believes it must follow. While best practices are best practices for a reason, and should generally be followed, it is not always possible for HR to follow a particular best practice. This presentation focuses on various employment law requirements and busts the myths about mistaken beliefs regarding legal practices.
Participant Learning Objectives:
- Identify legal requirements that exist in the workplace and how best to comply with them
- Assess areas of concern that many believe are legal requirements but actually are not
- Determine how to apply this dichotomy of legal requirements vs. best practices
