"15 Compliance Pitfalls of Employee Benefit Plan Administration"

This session will provide information to help HR and Benefit Administrators with common administrative errors. This is not meant to be exhaustive of all items but rather highlight common errors plan administrators make. Information will include required regulations that may result in penalties as well as common contract considerations you should know to ensure you don’t have a claim denied or not paid as expected. Participants will be provided with a list of what they should review in their carrier contracts to ensure their plan runs smoothly.

  • Explore how to design your internal plan administration processes to ensure your company is compliant with applicable benefit plan regulations

Ryan’s creative and progressive ideas have helped many employers save millions of dollars while maintaining a rich benefit offering.

Ryan joined the Alera Group team in 2011. Prior to working with Alera, Ryan was a top Consultant for one of the top 10 largest national insurance brokers in the country, Brown & Brown, Inc. Prior to Brown & Brown, Inc., he worked for HIG Capital, a private equity firm, where he was responsible for sourcing and assessing new investment opportunities in rapidly growing companies. He also worked for The Southwestern Company where he was a top salesperson and sales manager. Ryan was selected to be on the Alera Benefit Advisory Board, UnitedHealthcare National Advisory Council, and is a speaker on health and welfare plan topics.

Ryan is a native Houstonian and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business where he majored in Finance and Marketing. He continues to stay active with his alma mater by serving on the Board of the Texas Exes Houston Chapter. Ryan resides in Houston, TX, with his wife, daughter, and son.
