Employee Investigation Do's and Don'ts

Learning how to conduct an effective investigation is an important skill for every HR professional to master, and continue to hone over time. 

This presentation will cover the practical strategies and legal landmines for investigation claims of employee misconduct, including harassment and discrimination.   

Participants Learning Objectives:

  • Explore practical strategies and steps for conducting a workplace investigation 
  • Review legal risks associated with investigations and how to mitigate legal exposure 
  • Determine legal obligations and defenses associated with investigating harassment and discrimination complaints  



      David L. Barron, Attorney is board certified in Labor and Employment law. David assists his clients with labor and employment needs, including representing clients at trials involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, collective action overtime claims, and whistle-blower suits.

      Mr. Barron counsels clients on labor negotiations, elections, strikes, and corporate campaigns by unions; litigates disputes before the National Labor Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Department of Labor.  He advises management on various employment issues, including wage and hour, federal contractor compliance, employee terminations, discrimination and harassment claims, drafting and enforcement of non-compete agreements, Sarbanes Oxley, and OSHA matters.
