COVID-19 Vaccine: Legal Issues and Practical Strategies for Employers

As state and local authorities continue to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine in a phased approach, employers should consider how they intend to address, allow or incentivize their employees to take the vaccine. 

This session will explore the legal issues faced by employers regarding vaccine policy implementation, whether to require employee vaccinations and how they can legally incentivize employees to voluntarily take the vaccine.  We will discuss proactive strategies for addressing these situations, including policy language and best practices .

  • Discuss current federal guidance and reccomendations and interpretation of federal employment laws regarding an employer's COVID-19 vaccination policies.
  • Explore pro-active strategies to minimize the possible liability and human resource issues created by vaccine rollout

    David Barron is board certified in Labor and Employment law.     Aaron Holt is a Board Certified Labor and Employment lawyer from Houston, Texas. Aaron exclusively represents employers and management against plaintiffs’ attorneys and overly aggressive government agencies in a wide variety of employment litigation matters. As a former felony prosecutor in Houston, Aaron utilizes a wide range of trial experience to advise both large and small employers on legal compliance and risk assessment for any employment or labor law issue. As part of his firm’s philosophy of preventing lawsuits before they happen, Aaron regularly conducts manager and supervisor training on various employment laws, hiring practices,Interviewing techniques and employee discipline. Real-world trial experience informs all of Aaron's training, and he is a frequent speaker on a number of employment law and litigation topics.
