Using Organizational Values as a Planning & Accountability Tool

Program 2 - MC-SHRM General Meeting   11:45*AM-1:00PM (*Registration 11:30AM-11:45AM)

Presented by: Mike Coffey, SPHR, SHRM-SCP - Imperative

Many organizations create flowery and aspirational lists of values, emblazoning them on posters,  name badges, and websites.  However, there is often a disconnect between the stated values and how the organization plans and manages its operations. This disconnect leads to confusion and discontent on the part of employees, customers, and other stakeholders.

In this presentation, Mike Coffey will discuss the importance of clarifying an organization’s values and how to use them in strategic planning, product and service design, and performance management.

Participants Learning Objectives:

  • Define the important relationship between company values and company culture
  • Determine how to identify an organization's current values and set it's aspirational values
  • Learn how to include value considerations throughout organizational planning & execution
  • Discover how to meaningfully communicate values to stakeholders
