Program 1 - MC-SHRM Members Only Special Topic (MOST)    10:15*AM-11:20AM (*Registration 10:00AM-10:15AM)

HR leaders sometimes feel like they are fighting a war.  Every day is a different battle.

HR professionals may fight for their organization and the people they serve or fight against those opposed to compliance, policies, and the company’s strategic goals.

This session will cover leadership, strategy and tactics based on lessons learned from a Chinese General, Sun Tzu who wrote the book art of war almost 2500 years ago.  The book is famous for its practical advice on warfare, but the lessons mentioned can also apply to anyone that is in a leadership role.  This lighthearted, interactive session will give attendees practical applications to become more effective leaders.

Participants Learning Objectives:

  • Explore the 5 characteristics of the best leaders
  • Discuss the 4 faults that affect leaders
  • Determine techniques to create leadership strategies
