"MAKING RETURN TO WORK - - - WORK"
The longer your injured employee is away from work, the higher your costs will be and the more difficult it is for your employee to ever return to the workforce. Human Resource professionals recognize that workers' compensation is not only a financial issue it is also a major employee relations concern. Human Resource professionals usually have a role to play in managing both. The primary goal of the workers' compensation system is to get injured employees back to productive work as soon as possible following an injury.
The recent emphasis on early return to work in our workers' compensation system and the increased opportunities for employers are both key to lower workers' compensation costs. Employers, insurance carriers, injured employees, and health care providers all have an active role to play in getting injured employees back to productive work. Learn about your role and how to implement a simple and effective procedure.
This session introduces current best practices and offers new and innovative ways to identify meaningful return to work opportunities. The traditional "light duty" concept is ancient history. Employees who continue to work following an injury, or who return to productive work as soon as possible after an injury, heal better and faster than those who become unnecessarily inactive and disconnected from their employer. Remember, that most return to work assignments are temporary and short term.
Learn how to work better with your adjuster, the treating doctor, and case managers. Information includes how to avoid some of the roadblocks often faced by employers in getting injured employees back to productive work and how to keep from being your own worst enemy when it comes to managing workers compensation costs.
The Learning Objectives for this session include:
1. Overview of Workers' Compensation Process and Procedures
2. Provide tools to help employers eliminate unnecessary and costly lost time
3. Introduce strategies for reducing business costs associated with on-the-job related illness and injury
